Mouth Herpes - Cold Sores and Fever Blisters
Mouth herpes is also known as a cold sore or fever blister. It got this nickname because it often appears when your body is trying to fight illness or infection.
If you have oral herpes, you’ll want to do everything you can to control the appearance and feeling of it.
There are some signs for you to keep an eye out for when you’re infected on your mouth. The first thing you may notice is that a certain spot on your mouth will tingle a bit.
A few days later a blister will appear. This blister may break open and crust over. In a few days, the red area that is left over will hopefully heal.
You may not even know where you came into contact with the virus. It can seem very unfair for you to have to deal with mouth herpes when you don’t understand why you have it. Don’t worry. You’re definitely not the only one who suffers.
Oral herpes is caused by something called the Simplex Virus I. You’ll often see that shortened to HSV-I in many medical documents. This is a different strand than HSV-2, which is more commonly linked to the genital form.
Luckily, even when left untreated the outbreak tends to clear up on it’s own in about a week. This doesn’t mean you’re cured!
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that everything is ok once the sore clears up because you are likely to have another outbreak at some point.
You can speed up the healing process by making sure that you never play with the sore. This really delays healing because it opens up the area and can create a wound.

It is also very important to keep in mind that you can spread this to other people. Never share drinks or utensils with other people.
Also keep in mind that kissing your partner while you have an outbreak can cause them to get the virus as well.
There are some prescription and over the counter medications that can speed up the healing process. Some of them can ever suppress the likelihood of an outbreak. Make sure you talk to your doctor to find out what the best option for you is.
Getting this STD is definitely not the end of the world. It can be a bit annoying and a little painful. The good news is that it goes away fairly quickly and may not come back for a good while. There are some great medications that can make the process even easier.

I think herpes has caused me to have something similar to chronic fatigue sindrome. I am tired leading up to the outbreak and then I become so utterly exhausted during and for a little afterwards. This disease has seriously made my life more difficult at times.
Jesse
Jesse, I know the feeling. It is probably stress. stress seems to bring them out. I got one this weekend. I had 3 exams, and had to deal with filing my taxes which I owed money. It stressed me out and yes i was fatigued, and bammo I got a cold sore. I use abreva constantly when its inflamed, then as soon as I sense the flamings done, I use chapstick or something to keep it from getting a scab. Nothing worse than getting over a cold sore, just to have it re-open when drying off from the shower. I seem to be recovering from this one fast. Happens bout once a year.
Can the mouth sores lead to the genital strand?
